Away From Fear, Into Love

Travis here, I’m 19 years old and I am the founder of Away From Fear, Into Love.
I recently started this non-profit organization to help victims of rape and sexual assault by supporting them with someone to talk to. Our mission is to give these victims the support they need to eventually move on from living in fear and live a happy, love filled life. My inspiration for this group came from many people I am close to who have experienced this problem. The most inspiring though, was a 18 year old girl who I had talked to about her history with this issue. She was very shy and hesitant to tell me her story at first because she had never opened up to anyone. I told her to take her time and when she was ready to come out, I would be there to listen. Just by talking to her she had told me that I had been a big help and a huge inspiration in her life. She told me she wished that she could repay me, then she told me that not every therapist or psychiatrist who had been paid to talk to her could get her to share her story. This made a huge emotional impact on me. I felt relieved that I could be helping someone so much and could see it meant a lot to her. I then decided to start an organization that would help support stories just like this girl. My main goal in life is to help and inspire people and after talking to her I found my calling and opportunity to finally help people. Away From Fear, Into love was started on May 4, 2010 and within two days already has the support of over 400 people and the numbers grow each hour. I would like to personally thank everyone who has taken a part in this by making banners or just joining the group. I believe that if we set our sights high enough and with enough hard work AFFIL will eventually make an impact. All these victims need is someone to talk to who they can rely on to be by their side.
